Christmas Eve: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Christmas Day: A 30 % chance of showers. Mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 60.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 53.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27.

The next front is expected to cross the area on Christmas day. Models bomb surface low off the middle-Atlantic Seaboard on Saturday. European model (ECMWF) and Canadian models begin to develop surface low closer to the local area prior to this, while the latest GFS begins to develop surface low over the Southern Appalachians. This will have an impact on precipitation coverage. For now have capped probability of precipitation at 30% ahead of the front. Much cooler temperatures are expected behind the front for Sunday-Tuesday with temperatures at least 15 degrees below normal.

Friday, December 17, 2010

Saturday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Calm wind becoming south between 4 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday Night: A 40 % chance of rain, mainly before 1am. Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Calm wind becoming north between 5 and 8 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. North wind between 8 and 11 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 33.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 63

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Today:  Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. North wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

Forecast Details: An Inverted trough offshore moves slowly north today. WSR-88D indicating scattered showers offshore the southeast Georgia waters moving north. A few showers may dot the southeast Georgia coast this morning and have put low chance of precipitation there. Will continue to see considerable clouds wrap around the low much of the day, which will begin to break this afternoon as drier air moves into the area. Have taken a blend of the MAV with the cooler MET to account for the cloud cover and went with upper 50s for southeast Georgia to the mid 60s across the far south.

Extensive low cloudiness and some patches of drizzle continue across extreme northeast Florida on the west side of sharp inverted coastal trough. This matches up well with a rather small but strong area of isentropic lift from just above the surface to just beneath a weak but dry subsidence inversion where winds are southwest. Models shift this lift northeast and weaken it through the day and replace it neutral lift or subsidence. Most uncertainty in the short term centers around maximum temperatures today since they are highly dependent on cloud cover.

Today's Pollen Levels: 1.4 Low (on a scale to 12); Predominate Pollen:Juniper.

Near Freezing Temperatures Possible Over The Inland Areas Saturday Night ...

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 62. Wind chill values as low as 29 early. North wind between 7 and 11 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. North wind around 8 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 63. North wind between 8 and 13 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Hazardous Weather: A cold air mass will settle over the region for the weekend with low temperatures falling into the mid 30s early Saturday morning and into the lower 30s early Sunday morning. Patchy frost along With near freezing temperatures will be possible over a few low lying wind sheltered areas early Sunday morning.

Forecast Details:. Saturday/Sunday night...much cooler Saturday with highs only in the lower 60s. Models indicate gradient begins to relax some during the night which will help set up a drainage flow and allow low temperatures to fall to near freezing across the inland areas. Appears duration of freeze too isolated and minimal for a watch at this time.

Sunday/Sunday night...the cool air mass lingers over the area with highs in the lower to middle 60s. Flow becomes northeast which brings in a few coastal clouds. Atmosphere does begin to modify as the long wave trough begins to lift out. Not expecting any widespread freezes Sunday night but still may have a few pockets of near freezing temperatures of frost.

Friday, October 29, 2010

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 78. East wind between 3 and 9 mph.
Saturday Night: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 53. Light east wind.
Sunday: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 8 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Hazardous Weather: Patchy dense fog is likely across inland areas early Sunday morning And early Monday morning with visibilities less than 1 mile at times.

Forecast Details:. Saturday and Sunday the surface ridge builds over and just east of the local area with temperatures gradually moderating. Saturday highs will be in the middle 70s under sunny skies with lows Saturday night near 50 inland to near 60 coast. Increased low level moisture Saturday into Saturday night and narrow dew point depressions favor fog development across our inland Florida zones.

Sunday temperatures rebound into the upper 70s to near 80 inland under sunny skies, with lows Sunday night falling into the 50s with conditions again favorable for fog development inland.

Friday, October 22, 2010

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming east between 7 and 10 mph. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Saturday Night: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 59. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm.

Sunday: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming east between 6 and 9 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61.

Temperatures will continue to moderate over the weekend, particularly night-time temperatures. Ridge axis will keep the area dry. May see a few sprinkles over the coastal waters along a weak inverted coastal trough but confidence is not high enough to add to the forecast at this time.

Friday, October 15, 2010

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 79. Wind chill values as low as 44 early. North wind around 6 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45. East wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Game Time: Clear, around 66 light, northeast wind with 0% chance of rain.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Northeast wind between 3 and 5 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52.

Dry air persisting over the area will result in an elevated fire danger Saturday and Sunday.

Friday, October 08, 2010

Saturday: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 87. Light north wind.

Saturday Night: Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 55. Calm wind.

Sunday: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Hazardous Weather: dry conditions will linger over the area on Saturday and an elevated fire weather danger is anticipated over inland northeast Florida.

During the nighttime hours, patchy fog is expected to develop with isolated areas falling to below a mile visibility.

Forecast Details: The next several nights should see increasing fog potential as boundary layer moisture continues to increase and radiational profile improves as high settles over the region. Will continue to only indicate patchy for now but may need to add some dense wording as potential events draw closer.

Nothing else of note to speak of in the short term as surface high will stretch from the northern Gulf through northern Florida by Saturday. Aforementioned moisture recovery will be seen as increasing clouds over the coastal waters initially, translating to the coastal areas with the development of the sea breeze Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Friday, October 01, 2010

Saturday: A 20 % chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. North wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Saturday Night: A 10 % chance of showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. North wind between 5 and 7 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82. North wind between 6 and 13 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Forecast Details: Saturday, a strong Canadian high begins to high build southeast towards the region while a broad low forms over the Bahamas and moves north. A large fetch of northeast winds around both systems will bring in Atlantic moisture, coupled with short short wave swinging through, resulting in a chance of showers for the coastal counties of northeast Florida. All areas near the coast will have breezy northeast winds. Areas north of west of Jacksonville will be drier with near none probability of precipitation. Maximum temperatures near seasonal levels, much cooler at night across the inland areas with min temperatures in the lower to middle 50s.

Sunday, the strong Canadian high continues to build southeast bringing in dry air, with low probability of precipitation confined mainly to coastal northeast Florida. Maximum temperatures near seasonal levels with lows lower to middle 50s inland and middle/upper 60s coast.

Friday, September 17, 2010

Sunday: A 40 % chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.

Friday, September 03, 2010

Saturday: A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming west between 6 and 9 mph.

Saturday Night: A 10 % chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. North wind around 6 mph.

Sunday: A 30 % chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91.

Sunday Night: A 30 % chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68.

Labor Day: A 20 % chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 92.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.

Forecast Details: County Warning Area to experience a squeeze play scenario on Sat as stalled boundary remains over the extreme southern sections and a new front moves into the Georgia portion during the afternoon. The latter will be a dry feature with just a slight increase in cloud cover expected. The stalled boundary however will show signs of increased moisture pooling at the surface and impulses rounding amplifying East Coast trough allow for low end scattered probability of precipitation south of I-10.

This boundary will become a mainstay over the Florida portion through Monday while high bridges north of the area over the Carolinas. This will allow for a more convergent northeast flow to develop across the area and with moisture already in place along with continued impulses aloft should allow for Middle Range probability of precipitation again mainly south of I-10.

Friday, August 27, 2010

Saturday: A 50 % chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90. East wind between 3 and 9 mph.

Saturday Night: A 30 % chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Sunday: A 40 % chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90. East wind between 5 and 13 mph.

Sunday Night: A 30 % chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Hazardous Weather Outlook: Scattered to numerous shower and thunderstorm activity will continue on saturday with locally heavy rainfall frequent lightning and gusty winds possible.

Breezy northeast flow over the weekend and continuing into early next week will lead to a higher risk of rip currents along the Atlantic coast as well as possible small craft advisory conditions over the coastal waters.

Forecast Details: Saturday a back door front will move south into northeast Florida with a surge of northeast winds overspreading the region behind it. With high pwat's, strong low level convergence and middle level impulses traversing in from the Gulf will go with continued high probability of precipitation. Have gone with likely probability of precipitation across northeast Florida where showers/storms will probably begin during the late morning and then spread inland during the afternoon. Have gone with chance probability of precipitation across southeast Georgia. Steering winds become east and increase to 10 knots. Due to the cloud cover along the coast maximum temperatures held to the 80s, inland areas will still get to near 90.

Sunday high pressure builds north of the area providing drier conditions across much of southeast Georgia with low probability of precipitation there. However higher moisture levels and easterly steering flow across northeast Florida results in scattered morning showers along the coast and scattered storms inland during the afternoon. Breezy and cooler along the coast with highs in the 80s but near 90 inland.

Friday, August 20, 2010

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday:A 50 % chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph.

Sunday Night: A 40 % chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74.

Scattered thunderstorms will be possible each afternoon. Slow moving thunderstorms may produce locally heavy rainfall amounts in the stronger storm activity.

Forecast Details: Saturday weak positive vorticity advection from the middle level low now over Alabama drifts across south Georgia as the surface front shifts farther south over our County Warning Area with a northwest-southeast orientation as a surface ridge builds over the mid-Atlantic. Expect likely probability of precipitation across all inland areas tommorow as the ridge over South Florida weakens. Highs will near the lower 90s again under partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies.

Late Saturday into Sunday models diverge with respect to the development of a broad surface low along the front. The GFS a broad low centered over south Georgia 7 am Sunday morning, while the NAM12 places the low center east of Miami. If the NAM12 scenario develops drier air from the northeast would likely filter over our zones with precipitable waters dropping near 1.3 inches. The GFS40 scenario continues to advertise high probability of precipitation with precipitable waters near 2.4 inches. Capped probability of precipitation at 50% across our western zones under a light east-southeast flow surface flow. Temperatures will continue above normal.

Friday, August 06, 2010

Saturday: A 40 % chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming southwest between 5 and 8 mph.

Saturday Night: A 30 % chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. West wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday through Monday over the area as a cold front stalls just north of the area. Storm motion will continue to be slow with locally heavy rainfall possible in thunderstorms.
