Today: Partly cloudy. Slight chance of showers in the morning, .then chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 90s. Northwest winds 5 mph shifting to the southeast in the afternoon. Chance of rain 40 %. Heat index readings 103 to 107.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the lower 70s. South winds 5 mph

Hazardous Weather Outlook: scattered thunderstorm activity is expected this afternoon mainly over interior northeast Florida and southeast Georgia as the east coast sea breeze moves inland. heat index will approach 105 degrees this afternoon over inland areas as temperatures rise to the mid 90s.

Forecast Details: visible satellite imagery shows mostly sunny skies across the region marred by a few thick patches of middle layer clouds. Water vapor imagery shows a hole in the moisture field with an area of subsidence covering the forecast area south of US 82. Moisture will eventually fill in and precipitable waters are forecast to increase this afternoon. An abbreviated sounding this morning indicates a precipitable water near 2 inches below 475 mb.

Current temperatures are close to same time yesterday and maximum temperatures will once again reach the middle 90s today. With a quasi-stationary surface front to the north and a hot, humid unstable air mass, scattered thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. Winds below 15,000n ft on the sounding are light to null, which will allow sea breeze to push inland where most thunderstorm activity will occur. Heat index readings will top out above the century mark again, but fall short of heat advisory criteria.

Today's Pollen Levels: 8.4 Medium High (on a scale to 12); Predominate Pollen: Ragweed, Grass and Chenopods.
