Hazardous Weather: smoke from a wildfire in southeast Alachua County near Lochloosa will drift south toward Citra and Fort McCoy today. Visibilities along U.S. 301 from Island Grove to Citra may be reduced in smoke.
Colder temperatures are expected tonight and portions of inland northeast Florida and southeast Georgia will experience a light freeze. A freeze watch is in effect generally near and north of a Jacksonville to Gainesville line in northeast Florida.
A dry air mass and breezy winds will produce dangerous fire weather conditions across portions of interior north Florida.
Forecast Details: surface high pressure is working in from the north as the cold front from last night pushes well S of the area. Cold advection will continue during the day with north-north-northeast winds at 10-15g25mph. An area of MVFR ceilings continues to affect the eastern zones from Brunswick Georgia to St Augustine and inland to Needmore and Taylor. These clouds will continue to shift southward under the northerly winds and the subsidence inversion which is near 2500-3000 feet and slowly erode.

Wildfire in the Lochloosa Lake area of southeast Alachua County was reported to have grown to 800-900 acres. It was estimated to be 40 % contained.
