...A Light Freeze Possible Tonight Followed By Much Warmer Temperatures...

Today: Sunny, with a high near 60. Calm wind.

Tonight:  Areas of frost after 1am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Light east wind.

Hazardous Weather: a light freeze will be possible tonight across most inland sections with a freeze watch in effect for northeast Florida.

There will be an elevated fire danger today due to low humidity.

Forecast Details: surface high pressure will push offshore later today although an accompanying ridge will hold over the area. Very dry conditions will continue with afternoon highs climbing into the upper 50s and lower 60s in response to rising thickness values. Some high clouds will traverse the area today. In addition some clouds around 5000 feet will also spread into interior southeast Georgia this afternoon.

Mid and high clouds will thicken tonight as a shortwave trough approaches from the Gulf of Mexico. Even with these clouds MOS guidance is suggesting a light freeze over the interior tonight. In response will issue a freeze watch for portions of northeast Florida with a light freeze expected mainly along and west of a line from Yulee to the west side of Jacksonville to Gainesville.
