Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 39. Calm wind.
Hazardous weather: the dry air will continue to produce dangerous fire weather conditions during the afternoon.
Forecast Details:. ...Patchy Frost Possible Tonight Well Inland...
Water vapor imagery and upper observation show a low closing off just south of the New England coast and a trough that extended southwest from the low to across North Florida. A ridge was over the miss valley. At the surface a cold area of high pressure covered the deep south including Florida and the Gulf Coast. Will keep current freeze warning going for areas west of U.S. 301 where lows will bottom out near 30. There will also be pockets of freezing temperatures in a few areas outside the warning . Due to the low temperature/dew point depressions will also have patchy frost through the early morning. Coastal areas and areas along the St Johns River will remain well above freezing due to light northwest flow and influence of the warmer waters. Satellite imagery showing strato-cumulus field was around 50 nm off the St Johns and Flagler coasts moving south-southwest with the mean flow and will remain offshore.
Temperatures begin to rebound as high pressure surface/aloft builds into the area as the low south of New England moves southeast. The air mass remains dry and modifies as the ridge builds in. No freezes expected tonight but still may be cold enough for patchy frost across the Suwannee Valley region. Daytime highs above seasonal by Tuesday. By middle week the large surface high over the southeast U.S. gets absorbed by a larger high over southeast Canada. This results in an onshore flow and a few coastal clouds otherwise air mass will be dry.
