Today: Sunny, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a north wind between 13 and 16 mph.

Tonight:  Mostly clear, with a low around 33. North wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Hazardous Weather: a freeze warning is in effect again tonight for inland southeast Georgia and portions of inland northeast Florida.

The dry air and breezy conditions will continue to produce dangerous fire weather conditions this afternoon.

Forecast Details:. Water vapor imagery and upper air analysis continues to indicate a progressive and amplified pattern across the U.S. the long wave trough extended from southeast Canada to the central Gulf of Mexico. At the surface a strong area of high pressure covered much of the eastern half of the U.S. from upstate New York into the southeast U.S. and Gulf Coast. A cold northerly flow was advecting a cold Canadian air mass into the area. As of 2 am EST temperatures were still above freezing over much of the area because of the wind. However as winds drop off across the inland areas temperatures are expected to fall to around freezing for a couple of hours so will keep previous freeze warning going. Satellite imagery and observation indicate extensive cloudiness (from the strong cold air advection over the warm ocean) offshore coming ashore the northeast Florida coast. The mean layer (1000-500 mb) north-northeast flow will keep most of the clouds offshore but areas from JAX beach south can expected partly cloudy skies and windy conditions throughout the day.

Sunday/Sunday night strong high pressure slowly builds into the area bringing unseasonal cool temperatures (after a cold start) bringing windy conditions to the coastal counties. Have issued a Lake Wind Advisory for all of the coast. Maximum temperatures only reach near 60 across southeast Georgia and the lower to middle 60s northeast Florida this afternoon. The north-northeast flow brings in a few coastal clouds to the southeast zones where it will be partly cloudy. Atmosphere does begin to modify some tonight as the long wave trough begins to lift out. However as the gradient relaxes tonight with the cold air mass in place will probably have a light freeze across the inland areas and have a freeze warning out for areas mainly west of U.S. 301. Will also probably have patchy frost.
