Tonight: A chance of showers, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. West wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Hazardous Weather: There is a slight chance of thunderstorms today ahead of a strong cold front. Any thunderstorm that develops will be capable of producing wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph.
Forecast Details:. Pre-frontal precipitation continues to make very slow progress toward the east with narrow but solid line of moderate showers entering our northwest zones. Have adjusted 7 am to 1 pm probability of precipitation down over the southeast 1/2 of the area due to the slow movement and lack of much precipitation over the northeast Gulf of Mexico. Have also adjusted maximum temperatures up a degree or two over these same areas. Still believe thunderstorms will be few and far between due to lack of instability and capping inversion over the area. Best convective available potential energy from NAM only get to about 200 j/kg with even less instability indicated by the GFS. Will leave in the forecast, but chances are looking slim. In fact, Storm Prediction Center has taken general thunderstorms out of the forecast.
