On Saturday, the Lubee Bat Conservancy's 6th Florida Annual Bat Festival will offer activities ranging from bat-themed games and craft-making activities to seeing bats with large wingspans from 10 am to 4 pm.

While the Bat Conservancy is not generally open to the public, the annual festival allows visitors to see the conservancy and learn how bats benefit the environment.

Visitors can see fruit bats with wingspans of up to 5 feet long in the conservancy's “Bat Zone,” participate in craft-making and other bat-themed activities, and take in presentations and educational exhibits. Along with food and drinks, vendors will sell a variety of items for visitors to go “batty” at home.

While admission is free, donations are welcome and proceeds will be used for bat conservation and educational programs by the conservancy, which is at 1309 NW 192nd Ave., Gainesville. For more information, see www.batconservancy.org.
