Today: Partly cloudy. A 20 % chance of showers in the late morning and afternoon. Highs around 90. East winds 10 to 15 mph.
Tonight: Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly clear. Lows in the upper 60s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
Forecast Details: water vapor and RUC fields show upper level trough over the Northeast Atlantic states and off the Georgia/Florida coast. A weak middle level shortwave trough exists off the coast of Carolina's to southern Georgia/Alabama. Surface data shows a cold front over southern North Carolina and into central South Carolina and into northern Georgia and weak high pressure around 1015 MB over our inland southeast Georgia. Surface flow is weak from the east to east-northeast with low level convergence along the coast. Radar imagery and observation indicate isolated small showers near the coast and coastal waters in the forecast area. JAX 12z sounding shows precipitable water of 1.5 inches and fairly moist conditions below subsidence inversion around 850 MB. Given the dry air aloft and the cap in place thunderstorm probabilities are fairly low. May see a few storms fire along cold front to our north later today. Will maintaining mention of isolated shower for the coastal area this morning and then shifting to some inland zones as well in the afternoon hours over northeast Florida. Temperatures will be around upper 80s along the coast to lower 90s inland.
