Today:Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning then showers likely and chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs around 90. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 %. Heat index readings 98 to 102.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 70s. West winds 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 %.
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected today. Most of the activity is expected across northeast Florida this morning and southeast Georgia this afternoon and evening.
Slow movement of the convection toward the northeast at 10 mph or less will allow for locally heavy rainfall in some locations.gusty winds and frequent lightning will be possible in thunderstorm activity this afternoon and evening.
Maximum temperatures in the lower to mid 90s along the I-10 corridor and northward across southeast Georgia will push heat indices into the 100 to 105 degree range this afternoon.
Forecast Details: stagnant pattern remains as once again surface trough remains across south Georgia and extends down into the northeast Gulf of Mexico with southwest steering flow across the region and enough weak impulses in westerly flow in the middle levels to keep slight chance of convection going through the nighttime hours although enough stabilization should occur toward sunrise to support some patchy low clouds and fog, some of which could be dense across inland southeastern Georgia.
Today with southwest steering flow in the lower levels and precipitation water amounts remaining close to 2 inches still expect convection along The Big Bend area and I-75 corridor to commence during the morning hours and track very slowly across northestern Florida with scattered to numerous showers with embedded thunderstorms expected through the day. This will keep maximum temperatures closer to 90 degrees. While further north across southeastern Georgia where precipitable waters just under 2 inches and less triggers available for convection generally isolated to scattered showers/thunderstorms are expected and again mainly during the afternoon/evening hours and maximum temperatures will push into the lower to middle 90s with heat indices into the 100-105 degree range.
Today's Pollen Levels: 6.5 Medium (on a scale to 12); Predominate Pollen: Ragweed, Grass and Chenopods.
