Today's WX Outlook...

Weather Underground

...Locally Heavy Rainfall Possible Today...

Now: scattered showers and thunderstorm will continue to move across northeast Florida with the heaviest activity near Orange Heights, High Springs, Salt Springs and Interlachen. This activity will move northwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. Rainfall amounts will generally be light, a tenth of an inch or less per hour, though higher amounts will accompany thunderstorm activity.

Today: Showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 80s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80 %.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely in the evening...then chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 70s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 %.

Scattered to numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur over portions of northeast Florida today. Locally heavy rainfall amounts near 2 inches may occur in a short period of time.

Forecast Details: low level convergent flow over our southern coastal waters is responsible for the band of heavy showers this morning. Showers have made it as far inland as Oleno State Park and the I-75 corridor. A three hour radar loop appeared to show the band drifting to the north but recently a new band offshore has formed farther south. The RUC keep the precipitation south of Jacksonville until early afternoon when northeasterly flow becomes more easterly to southeasterly. Have bumped probability of precipitation up to categorical over the southern coastal zones to reflect the persistent rain band. Have also added isolated ts in this region. Breezy winds will occur again this afternoon along the coast.

Today's Pollen Levels: 1.8 Low (on s a scale to 12); Predominate Pollen: Grass & Nettle.
