...High Heat Indices through Mid Week...

Scattered thunderstorms are expected each afternoon and evening. The potential for heavy rainfall and minor flooding is expected to increase toward the end of the week.

Afternoon heat indices will be 100 to 105 through early next week.

Forecast Details: Monday and Tuesday rain chances increase across the area as the ridge axis shifts farther south with an increasingly moist west-southwest steering flow over the local area. A surface trough deepens down the southeast Atlantic seaboard through the upcoming week and this feature combined with progressively increasing PWATs and upper level lobes of passing positive vorticity support rain chances of near normal with a diurnal trend each afternoon/evening. Highs will continue above normal with highs in the mid/upper 90s and lows in the low/mid 70s. Patchy late night fog possible where heavy rain recently falls.

Wednesday through Sunday continued with at or above normal rain chances in the 40-50% range with a Ribbon on 2+ inches expected to linger near the area through the end of the week with a mean layer southwest steering flow. Temperatures will continue above normal with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 70s per MEN guidance. A slow westerly storm motion of 10 kts or less and high PWATs will create heavy rainfall potential this upcoming week.
