I find myself having an Andy Rooney moment this morning as I answer the third phone call where a machine tells me “liberal tax & spend Tallahassee democrats”, well I hang up about that time...

I have no tolerance for political advertising, they either they promise stuff there is no way they can make good on or they're telling me how evil their opponent is, neither really inspires me to vote for them be they “tax & spent liberal Democrats” or “tax & spend” conservative Republicans. Let's face it a politician is a politician no matter what letter they put behind their name and there isn't a “none of the above” slot...

TV and radio ads I can mute or just turn the box off, the copious junk mail I can toss in the trash, but the phone needs to be answered, after all it could be my wife or son in need. These calls are even worse than telephone sales calls and they seem to come at the most disruptive times and you can't shut a machine up...

So I think that the next call I get I will write in my dogs name on the ballot for that office, after all she's a financially conservative, socially liberal member of the Canine Party.
