Coming to Gainesville at Santa Fe College 6 pm Wednesday ...

The Children's Movement of Florida is a citizen-led, non-partisan movement to educate political, business and civic leaders - and all parents of the state - about the urgent need to substantially improve the way we care for our children.

The goal of the organization is to encourage the people and leaders of Florida to make the well-being and education of our children the state's highest priority, especially when it comes to the investment of public resources in programs that make a real difference in the lives and futures of children.

A state-wide tour will host 15 'Milk' parties, starting in Pensacola and working down to Key West.

The Children's Movement hopes to have a minimum of 1,000 participants at each stop in an effort to attract the media and to make a statement to the Florida legislature that kids are a priority in Florida. Each site will attract families and advocates with refreshments, local bands and choirs, balloons, entertainment, local celebrities, milk and cookies, etc.

The movement is backed by grants from the Kellogg Foundation among several

others.
