Novice and expert adventurers alike will explore the Santa Fe River during this year's Missing River Adventure Race at O'Leno State Park.

On April 30, participants will navigate the terrain by bicycle, boat and foot during two events -- an 8-hour Elite Race for advanced boaters, runners and cyclists and a 3-hour Sport Race for the less experienced. The Sport Race covers between 10 and 20 miles, and the Elite Race covers between 20 and 40 miles.

During early registration, which ends March 8, prices for the Sport Race range from $95 for one person to $240 for a team of four. For the Elite Race, prices range from $180 for a team of two to $320 for a team of four.

Prices will increase after the early deadline and again after the regular deadline on April 5. Late registration ends April 25.

Some equipment like canoes and life vests will be provided, but participants should have their own bicycles, helmets and a way to bring food and water.

Pangea Adventure Racing, the organization hosting the event, will offer a free course before the race to teach participants how to read maps and compasses and how to complete the race.
