Forecast Details: high pressure from the surface to near 850 mb is dominating the southeast United States with a prevailing easterly/ onshore flow across the Jacksonville County Warning Area. Clusters of showers have been steadily dropping southward over the coastal sections of northeast Florida the last several hours. Doppler radars have indicated moderate and brief heavy rainfall, enhanced by middle-level disturbance currently traversing the eastern half of Jacksonville County Warning Area.
Strong upper level high that was responsible for the unseasonably hot weather this past weekend will center over the south-central United States through at least Thursday. An accompanying ridge will stretch east across the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida Peninsula. This latter feature will maintain warm temperatures for the interior, with lower 90s forecast. Seasonal temperatures are forecast for the coastal counties where easterly winds will advect cooler conditions off the Atlantic waters.
In the lower levels of the atmosphere high pressure ridge over the Tennessee Valley region will advance east reaching the Atlantic waters later this week. Northeast winds will initially prevail within the boundary layer and this flow regime will advect drier conditions across the local area. For today isolated showers area forecast this morning south of a Gainesville to St. Augustine line, otherwise dry conditions are forecast..
