Me Me Me Journal...

This is from my baby sister's site, yes she's a hippie and proud of it, you want to make something of it, Donot make me open a can of whoopass …

She's also a research scientist and a Phd. Engineer who works in the her field keeping our water safe for future generations…You go girl…

Today is a good day to stay in your pajamas, unplug all of your clocks, put on some music, get a big glass of iced tea with lime slices and make a "me me me" journal page.

Do these five fun things first:

Find the largest piece of paper that you have in your home. Maybe it's a garbage bag cut open and laid flat, or the side of a cardboard box. Maybe its four sheets of notebook paper laid edge to edge.

Find some glue or tape or paste. If you don't have any, mix some water and flour with a little salt (1-Tablespoon flour, 2 Tablespoons water and 1 teaspoon of salt – add water if the paste is too thick, a little more flour if too thin).

Now make a list of the ten most beautiful things in the world. Don't pick things that someone has told you are beautiful. Pick the things that make your heart sing. Do not shy away from things that culture calls obscene or weird or dirty, but please avoid those things that bring pain or suffering to others. Pick ten beautiful things that bring love and warmth into the Universe.

Make a list of ten things that you love about yourself. I hope you do not have to dig very deep to do this. I hope they just spring forth so fast that you have trouble writing them down. Say them all out loud if your pen or keyboard cannot keep up. This way you will remember the top ten, and it will help you get the right words. If you are in a state of despair and think that there is nothing to love about yourself, remember that I like you lots. I may have to overlook your bad habits and annoying prejudices ;>) (because we all have them), but you can bet I have found something about you to admire and I know that you have at least ten traits or gifts that are love worthy.

Meditate on your two lists and then pull out some old magazines and cut out anything that grabs your eye. If you do not have old magazines, good for you. You have overcome the weakness that keeps me from being a minimalist, But this is not about me – it's about you. So, turn to the Internet and print out pictures that speak to you. Either way, keep at it until you have enough pictures to completely cover your paper, and then some. Do not censor your picture grabs, If it is just a sliver of color in an ad that you are drawn to – cut it out. If it is just part of a nature photograph or part of a portrait – just cut out that part. If it's a headline or series of words – cut it out. Cut away anything that does not appeal to you. Don't think or analyze. Do it quickly.

Now you are ready for the fun part. Grab a snack, something else to drink, stretch, walk around, then sit on the floor with the paper and your cutouts. Start with the item you like the most and put it in the center, but don't glue it down yet. Now, one at a time, using the pieces you have the strongest attachment to and working your way to the least important, start moving pieces around on the page, tucking edges of things under other pieces until your page tells a story about who you are right now. If you need more words, write them on scraps of paper or the pictures on the page. Use colored pens or paint. Discard the pieces that don't work with the others as you start arranging, and if you need more, turn back to the Internet or your magazines and grab them.

You are not necessarily going for the most aesthetically pleasing arrangement. You are looking for the arrangement that feels right to you at the moment.

Walk away for a little while, then come back and tweak things. Now carefully glue down each piece and let it dry. On the back, write the date and a sentence or two about the story on the front and glue your two lists here as well. Hang the page somewhere if you need to be reminded about how beautiful your life is, or fold it up and put it in a drawer. In a few weeks or months, try this activity again. Then compare the two pieces and see if you have changed.
