Today:
Sunny,
with a high near 55. Wind chill values as low as 31 early. Northeast
wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Tonight: Areas of frost after 1am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 29. Light north wind.

Hazardous Weather: hard freeze warning is in effect for the area until 9 am this morning. Another hard freeze is expected for most inland areas tonight. Areas of frost can be expected.

The dry airmass in place will set the stage for dangerous fire weather conditions this afternoon across the inland areas.

Forecast Details: MSAS analysis was showing a strong and cold Arctic high was settling into the southeast. Water vapor imagery was showing a progressive pattern across the U.S. An upper trough extended from east Canada to north Mexico with upper moisture streaming across the Gulf of Mexico and extreme southern forecast Gulf Coast across the area. The rest of the region was clear with a hard freeze ongoing.

The cold high will continue to build into area but will slowly weaken. The cold and Arctic air mass will gradually modify as a result and temperatures will be slowly returning to towards normal over the weekend. With clear skies and calm winds will have good radiational cooling next 2 nights and have leaned towards the colder MAV guidance. Will therefore likely have a hard freeze with areas of frost well inland tonight and a freeze with widespread frost elsewhere. A light freeze with widespread frost is expected for the inland areas Saturday night. Coastal areas will remain above freezing with patches of frost possible. Maximum temperatures return to normal across northeaszt Florida by Sunday.
