...Much Needed Rainfall Today And Tonight...

Today: A chance of rain, then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming southwest between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tonight: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 50. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Hazardous Weather: a slight chance of thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon through the night.

Forecast Details: MSAS analysis places a trough/stationary front across central Florida and the northern Gulf. Impulses in the zonal flow aloft are traversing the Gulf Coast states on the north side of the surface trough. Middle/high clouds have returned to the forecast area producing some light rain that's reaching the surface from Gainesville to Marineland. Another area of weak showers will soon be moving across southeast Georgia. A stronger impulse is currently upstream over Louisiana, in advance of a surface low and strong upper jet. This system is generating good isentropic lift and with deep moisture is forecast to bring some much needed rain into the deep south. Rains will spread across the local area during the morning hours becoming widespread during the afternoon. Will keep categorical probability of precipitation across southeast Georgia and I-10 corridor and 50-70% probability of precipitation elsewhere this afternoon. Area of 80% probability of precipitation will spread southward during the evening and night as associated cold front pushed through the area. By sunrise on Thursday the front will be just to our south and skies will become partly cloudy as the upper trough dives deep into Florida. Wide range in temperatures is forecast as clouds/precipitation keep area north of I-10 cool today and southwesterly flow brings warmer air to the southern tier. Will go with low 50s north to near 70 south. Cooler air penetrates farther south tonight with 40s expected north of I-10 warming to middle 50s across extreme south portion.

Today's Pollen Levels: 1.6 Low (on a scale to 12); Predominate Pollen: Cedar/Juniper
