Forecast Details:. a deep layer ridge is currently positioned across the region. Stable atmospheric conditions associated with this feature is interacting with moist conditions near the surface to produce dense fog across southeast Georgia. As a result, a dense fog advisory has been issued for interior southeast Georgia through Tuesday morning. This advisory may be expanded to include coastal southeast Georgia as well as portions of northeast Florida. Additionally, lingering smoke from the ongoing wildfire in Clinch County is also providing visibility restrictions.
Today warm and dry conditions will continue today as the mean layer ridge holds across the area. Afternoon highs are forecast in the upper 70s and lower 80s. A few records may be broken across southeast Georgia.
Aforementioned ridge is forecast to weaken somewhat tonight allowing for a weak cold front to reach southeast Georgia before stalling. Rain is not expected. Stable atmospheric conditions are again forecast and fog will once again become an issue.
