The Alachua County Health Department will be observing National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (October 15, 2010) by providing free HIV testing in the Gainesville Community. National Latino AIDS Awareness Day provides not only the Latino community but everyone with testing opportunities and prevention efforts.  

Hispanics/Latinos represent approximately 15 percent of the U.S. population, account for an estimated 18 percent of people living with HIV in the United States and an estimated 17 percent of new infections every year.   In support of this important public health initiative, the Alachua County Health Department will be providing free and confidential HIV counseling and testing at the following locations through the Mobile Outreach Clinic:

  61st and 12th Place
• October 14th
  9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

  Holly Heights
  SW 8TH Ave. & Tower Road

The free test utilizes the OraQuick Advance finger stick test and citizens will only have to wait 20 minutes for their HIV results
