Today: Partly cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 90s. Northwest winds 5 mph. Chance of rain 40 %. Heat index readings 102 to 106.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 70s. Light winds.

Hazardous Weather Outlook: Isolated to scattered afternoon thunderstorms are expected to develop mainly over inland areas today.

Heat index readings will approach 105 degrees this afternoon over inland areas.

Forecast Details: Upper ridge to the west will keep a northwest flow aloft over the area for the next few days. Surface high to the south and stalled front to the north will produce a light southwest flow near the surface, becoming easterly as afternoon East Coast sea breeze develops. Hot temperatures with minimal chances of rain(mainly inland) will continue through Saturday. High temperatures will be running at least 5 degrees above normal for mid-September. A cold front will move into the area on Sunday bringing the best chance of rain this week as an upper short wave moves off the East Coast.

Today's Pollen Levels: 8.6 Medium High (on a scale to 12); Predominate Pollen: Ragweed, Grass and Chenopods.
