Today: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog early in the morning. A slight chance of showers in the morning, then a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 90s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40 %.
Tonight: Partly cloudy. A 20 % chance of showers after midnight. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the lower 70s. East winds 5 mph in the evening becoming light.
Hazardous Weather Outlook: Patchy morning fog will reduce visibilities to less than 2 miles in a few areas early this morning and tonight.
Scattered showers will spread inland across mainly northeast Florida this morning with isolated thunderstorms developing by afternoon. A few of the storms may produce strong wind gusts along dangerous cloud to ground lightning.
Forecast Details: A large upper high is centered over central Alabama with dry air in the upper levels across the County Warning Area. Surface high remains north of the area with northeast to east flow continuing. Isolated to scattered showers have been moving west across the coastal waters with a few moving a few miles inland. Presently, most of the activity is located over the Gulf Stream. Patchy fog has developed over inland portions of the area with Gainesville already reporting 1/2 mile visibility.
High pressure aloft northwest of the area and dry air will limit convection again today with highest probability of precipitation over the southern inland zones during the afternoon and even those at or below 40%. NAM and GFS model still in disagreement about development of a coastal trough over the next day or two with the NAM more bullish on the feature. This will mainly affect the extent of shower activity over the adjacent coastal waters and how much will move inland in the late night and morning hours.
Temperatures will average several degrees above normal and slowly increase is upper high shifts south and heights rise. Patchy late night and early morning fog is possible over inland areas, especially in areas that received rain the previous day.
