The Birth of the Gazelephant

by Kelsey Grammer

Ah, the Grand Old Party. The GOP. Founded back in the day, by politicos with funny names like Modernizers, Whigs and Free Soilers. Arrived as a force to be reckoned along with another formidable force – one Mr. Abraham Lincoln. In addition to Honest Abe, itʼs also the party of Teddy Roosevelt, Ike and The Gipper, to name a few.

And itʼs the party represented by a friendly bulbous red, white and blue pachyderm. Not a bad icon when you consider the alternative – an ass.

The noble and grand elephant is the perfect icon for the Party that is Grand and Old, but it didnʼt seem quite right for RIGHTNETWORK and a group of about 60 or 70 million right-minded Americans who are ready to rev it up; take back the playground and make a lot of noise and a whole lot of sense. Folks, who are far away from plodding and much closer to sprinting, leaping and cannonballing.

So we had a good think here about what kind of mascot we might want to stand for us…and our audience of right-minded, red-blooded American friends. And because this is how our minds work, we wondered what would happen if we combined the power of the largest land mammal on earth with the agile, fast as all get-out, Gazelle.

And poof, the Gazelephant was born.

Just like that we had a new symbol for Right-Minded America and the network that was made to entertain them.

Weʼre not sure if the Gazelephant is a guy or a girl. ʻSpose thereʼs probably both girl Gazelephants and guy Gazelephants, leaping and leading us toward everything thatʼs right with the world.

Ultimately, The Gazelephant (Gaz for short, “G” for really short) stands for all the right-minded energy in the air these days and all the right-minded folks creating it. So to that end we say, put a little Gazelephant in your life.

They love spirited conversation, strong points of view and every now and again…a little scratch behind the ears.
