Today: Partly cloudy then becoming mostly cloudy early in the afternoon then becoming partly cloudy. Chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 90s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 %. Heat index readings 101 to 105.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a 20 % chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 70s. Southwest winds 5 mph.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

Forecast Details: oppressive heat today as high humidity combines with temperatures in the middle 90s to produce maximum heat indices around 110 degrees most areas especially across southeast Georgia and along the East Coast of northeast Florida. Tough decision whether or not to go with a heat advisory as we will be right on the fence but after much deliberation have decided to err on the side of caution and go ahead and put one up. Will only include the coastal counties in northeast Florida as cloud cover and shower activity should keep temperatures in the low 90s across the interior of northeast Florida.

Middle to upper level anticyclone will grip the area today. Warm temperatures aloft/strong cap at 700mb should keep convection on the weak side. Deep tropical moisture will increase late in the day as deep southwesterly flow increases ahead of an approaching surface trough supportive of likely probability of precipitation across southeast Georgia and portions of the Suwannee Valley in northeast Florida.

Weather pattern to become unsettled over the weekend. Middle level high will get suppressed as 500 mb low shifts east into southern Georgia. At the same time a surface trough will stall across the area with an abundance of tropical moisture over the region. Steering flow will become light...so very heavy rainfall will be the main concern both Saturday and Sunday. Highs should check up in the low 90s due to increasing clouds and precipitation. Nights will remain muggy with lows in the middle to upper 70s.

Today's Pollen Levels: Not Reporting
