Showers and thunderstorms will develop by afternoon mainly south of I-10. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible due to aslow storm motion.
Forecast Details: upper ridge has shifted further southwest of the area with a northwest flow over the region. Soundings show deep moisture over south Georgia and Florida with satellite imagery now showing drier air to the north advecting into south Georgia. Models show drier air aloft to sink south into extreme northeast Florida today with best moisture located south of I-10. Thus probability of precipitation will range from likely south to chance over southeast Georgia. Slow storm motion will occur again and cause locally heavy rainfall this afternoon. Upper low near the Bahamas prognosticated to move west across south Florida Monday-Tuesday along with weak surface low. NAM12 looks too strong with surface low development and winds and have discounted. Probability of precipitation will decrease to chance category over south half of the area on Monday as drier air spreads further south. Probability of precipitation return to near climatology mainly over northeast Florida on Tuesday as moisture wraps around upper low.
