In the Sun Shine State on this day in 1878 the first post office established in the community of “Sara Sota.”
In 1882 first two-and-one-half mile railroad bridge completed across Escambia Bay.
In 1898 the order was given to evacuate Key West because of a possible outbreak of yellow fever. All military personnel were ordered out of the city, including the wounded in Convent Hospital.
